Course Title Asbestos Awareness
Description Designed to increase the general awareness of asbestos within the working environment. NATAS awareness training is supported by the HSE and endeavours to install a sufficient level of awareness to those that can either potentially be exposed to asbestos containing materials during the course of their daily working activities or generally need to improve their knowledge of asbestos.

Standard and tailored courses can be provided to the specifications of the sponsoring organisation and can incorporate reference to their own internal asbestos procedural documentation.
Pre-Qualification No Pre-qualifications required.
Duration 4 Hours / 1/2 Day / 1 Day
Course Content A wide range of asbestos awareness courses have been formulated to account for the differing requirements of organisations these cover :-
  • Flooring contractors
  • Window Fitters
  • Housing associations and property care personnel
  • Local authorities - educational and council
  • Local authority fire service operational personnel
  • Managers and auditing personnel
  • Maintenance workers and building contractors
  • Work with asbestos cement (AC)
  • Work with asbestos insulating board (AIB)

The content of these courses is expanded upon as and where required but typically will include the general headings of :-

  • History/background
  • Types & Uses
  • Health Effects/Hazards
  • Asbestos within buildings/installations
  • Working Safely with asbestos containing materials (ACM’s)
  • Documentation
  • Legislation/Obligations

Courses can be modified to suit client or industry specific requirements and incorporate clients own asbestos policies and management plans

Educational Objectives Various objectives depending on course chosen.
Examination Optional course examination by multiple choice question papers
Certification NATAS certificate of attendance or training* ( *if exam taken).
